Community FAQ's

Circles are essential for different discussion feeds.  You can post a question or resource in each of them.  Here is a breakdown of each of them:

• The Collective - In this space, you can create a post to introduce yourself, ask a question or ask for feedback.  Anyone can comment and provide feedback.  Mel will create posts here regularly covering a number of topics.  If uploading images, please ensure they are low-res and under 2mb.
• Feel Good Moments - In this space, you can create a post to tell us about something you are proud of.  It's a great way to boost each other with support and encouragement.
• Tutorial Requests - In this space, you can submit a request for a resource or tutorial.
• Challenge Hub - In this space, Mel will post announcements about challenges.  You are also most welcome to post about a challenge you've taken part in.
• Questions for Mel - In this space you can post a question for the live Q&A's, although Mel will sometimes just answer them in the post too.  There is a form that you can complete if your question(s) are for the live Q&As
• Member Intros - In this space, new members can introduce themselves to the community.  Share where you are from and a little bit about your journey so far in the surface pattern design world.
• Resources - In this space, Mel will post a link to new resources and tutorials that are posted in the Resource Hub.  These are generally weekly.  You can also post resources you've discovered and think might be useful for other members.
• Portfolio Reviews - In this space, you can submit a portfolio for review.  Mel reviews portfolios as part of the monthly Q&A's.

To take part in a challenge, click on the Challenges tab then click on the challenge at the top of the page to view the details.  To join the challenge, just click on the Join Challenge button.  To submit your entry for the challenge, just click on the Create Entry button.  Note, that these challenges are not competitions but more a way to challenge yourself and to add work to your portfolio.  I do hand out random prizes throughout the year though just for a little motivation.

Yes, absolutely!  To post work for feedback just create a new post in The Collective circle. Members and Mel will provide feedback of your work in a positive and supportive way.

To submit a question for the live Q&A's head to the Questions for Mel circle and click on the link in the pinned post at the top of the feed.  You can have up to 3 questions per live Q&A.  

To submit a portfolio for review head to the Portfolio Reviews Circle and click on the form link in the pinned post at the top of the feed.  A portfolio can be a PDF, website portfolio or your social media feed.

Mel's ultimate goal is to inspire and encourage others on their creative journey. She aims to keep members happy, engaged, and improving their skills, so they can continue to move their creative businesses forward. 

However, it may not be everyone, so we've made it easy for you to cancel if you don't feel like it's a good fit.

Here's how cancellation works.

If you joined after the 1st of December 2023, you can access your Account Portal here.  You'll need to enter your email address to access your subscription details and then cancel your subscription.  Your subscription will remain active until the end of the month of your last payment.

If you joined before the 1st of December 2023

• Log in to your account here.
• Click on their Avatar from the page header.
• Select Settings from the dropdown.
• Click Billing Info in the top right of the page:
  • If you paid via Stripe (credit card), select cancel next to the offer you purchased and then confirm cancellation of subscription
  • If you paid via PayPal, select Manage Subscription in PayPal.  You will then be redirected to your PayPal account in the Payments tab. If you are not logged in to PayPal, you will be prompted to log in to your PayPal account.
    • Click Payments in the top menu.
    • Select Manage Automatic Payments under the "Automatic Payments" section.
    • Select the merchant whose agreement you want to cancel in the left sidebar.
    • Click the Cancel button.
    • Confirm your wish to cancel and click Cancel Automatic Payments
